Funded PhD and Postdoc positions; in Energy Informatics; at University of Southern Denmark

Center for Energy Informatics, Maersk McKinney Møller Institute, University of Southern Denmark, invites applications for 3-years PhD and Post Docs positions. Starting date is November 1st, 2017, or as soon as possible thereafter.

The announced positions are part of the center’s ongoing research projects with industry. The specific research will address the investigation and development of innovative software solutions for optimizing the energy-use in buildings and industrial processes. The innovative software solutions will utilize recent advancements in data science, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, Cloud-computing, and cyber-physical systems.

We seek energetic and dynamic candidates who will be able to contribute to the center’s research in general and to specific research projects in particular.

The preferred candidates have:

  • A master level degree within either computer science or software engineering
  • Good analytical problem solving and practical programming skills

In addition, preferred Post docs candidates must have:

  • International publication experience, including conferences and journals

The Center for Energy Informatics is part of the Maersk Mc-Kinney Moller Institute, one of four Departments of the Faculty of Engineering at University of Southern Denmark

PhD positions: Application, salary and conditions of employment etc.
The PhD Fellowship is a 3-year salaried full time position, requiring a 5-year successfully completed master degree. A Bachelor degree alone, does not qualify for this position.
Enrollment and employment ends automatically by the end of the period. The holder of the fellowship is not allowed to have other paid employment during the three-year period.
Employment is governed by the Protocol on PhD Research Fellows signed by the Danish Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations), Cirkulære om overenskomst for Akademikere i staten 2015.

The faculty expects the applicants to have read the information on the PhD study at The Faculty of Engineering and on the general PhD work and salary conditions before applying.

  • A curriculum vitae

*Please note the definition of verified:
Verified official transcripts of exams in English or Danish translation and verified copy of bachelor diploma and master’s diploma – All documentation must be officially translated into English or Danish. All documents must be verified. Verified means that your home university or a public notary verifies that the copy is a true copy of the original document. Each page of the copy must be stamped with the original stamp of the verifying institution and added the text: “True copy of the original document” and signed with a blue pen.

Post doc position: Application, salary and conditions of employment etc.
Employment as postdoc is temporary. Level of qualification is a PhD.

If special circumstances exist employment may be extended for one additional year.

Research will be predominant in the position. Teaching assignments can be agreed individually. Furthermore, other types of assignments may occur to a limited degree.

The Faculty determines the distribution of the various assignments. The weighting of the different assignments may vary over time.

Applications will be assessed by an expert. Applicants will be informed of their assessment by the Faculty.
As part of the overall assessment of the applicant’s qualifications, an interview may be applied.
The successful applicant will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations), Cirkulære om overenskomst for Akademikere i staten 2015.
