Funded Postdoc position; in design and assembly of custom energy cells for biomedical applications; at University of Louvain; in Belgium

0A post-doctoral position is available from the 1st of December 2017 in the group of Alexandru Vlad (IMCN/UCL, Belgium) in collaboration with Synergia Medical (Belgium).

The project consists in the design and assembly of custom energy cells for biomedical applications. The work will imply the identification of suitable active material and electrolyte chemistries, electrode(s) fabrication and energy cells encapsulation. Design of custom form/shape cells following the recommendations of the industrial partner is planned. Part of the developments will also deal with hybrid energy storage systems involving capacitive materials and/or in/organic redox active compounds.

The candidate should have a PhD degree in electrochemistry or material science. The project will involve aspects of energy storage cells engineering and in/organic materials (electro)chemistry. Strong expertise with electrochemical cell design and assembly is mandatory. Additional knowledge in organic chemistry is an advantage.

This contract will run for 1 year and, depending on the results, will most certainly lead to a contract extension and a larger project development.

Skills/Qualifications
