10 Research Associates / PhD positions for “Conducive Design of Cyber-Physical Production Systems (CD-CPPS)” (GRK 2323)

At TU Dresden, the Research Training Group “Conducive Design of Cyber-Physical Production Systems (CD-CPPS)” (GRK 2323) funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) welcomes applications for up to

10 Research Associates / PhD positions
(subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

for a three-year structured program. Start of the program will be September 3rd, 2018 and the end August 31st, 2021. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz – WissZeitVG). The position aims at obtaining further academic qualification (e.g. PhD).
Position and Requirements
The scientific goal of the GRK is to contribute insights on how the conducive design of CPPS influences competencies, health and trust of human operators. Towards that end, the interdisciplinary research team combines and adapts theoretical concepts that so far have only been considered within the boundaries of relatively independent research traditions. It will develop new methods and evaluate them in prototypical systems to provide an empirical basis for deriving suitable interventions in two application domains for CPPS: modular chemical plants in process industries and mobile agricultural systems.
The GRK is organised in three closely linked thematic clusters with multiple methodological overlap:
(A) adaptation strategies for changeability.
(B) development and maintenance of competencies.
(C) assessment and evaluation of human states
We aim at attracting the best talents in the respective research field and expect the following: an overall above-average university degree (master or equivalent) in engineering, computer science, ergonomics, psychology or related fields with a clear focus on human factors or human-technology interaction; advanced English language skills (written & spoken). Beyond the passion for and experience in research, we expect the active participation in the GRK and the readiness to take the extra step of an interdisciplinary approach towards a PhD. The participation in the teaching program is mandatory.
What we offer
A teaching program accompanies the interdisciplinary research strategy. It covers the different disciplines, both by lectures and by practical classes. In addition, workshops allow the participants to interact and network. Each project has two supervisors from different disciplines.
