The German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) investigates the causes of diseases of the nervous system and develops strategies for prevention, treatment and care. It is an institution within the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers with nine sites across Germany (Berlin, Bonn, Dresden, Göttingen, Magdeburg, Munich, Rostock/Greifswald, Tübingen and Witten). The DZNE cooperates closely with universities, their clinics and other research facilities.
The DZNE in Bonn offers a position as
PhD Student (f/m) Neuroscience / Biology
within Dr. Dan Ehninger’s research group.
Our group is interested in molecular and cellular mechanisms that contribute to neuropsychiatric and aging-associated disorders. To this end, we employ mouse models and multidisciplinary experimental approaches that combine behavioral neuroscience tools with genomics and epigenomics, biochemistry, molecular and cell biology, as well as neurophysiology. The group is also interested in translating findings from preclinical models to human populations. We look for highly motivated and initiative individuals with a recent M. Sc. degree or equivalent qualification. Individuals with backgrounds in neuroscience respectively related areas of biology (neurobiology, molecular biology, genetics, behavioral neuroscience, neurophysiology or in-vivo imaging), epigenomics or bioinformatics are particularly encouraged to apply. Fluency in English, good communication skills and capacity for teamwork are necessary.
- An exciting and fully funded research project
- Committed mentorship
- An excellent scientific environment in a major center for translational neuroscience research
- Access to state-of-the-art equipment and facilities
