University Assistant (prae doc) at the Department of Pharmacognosy

We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic young scientists to join our research team that identifies and pharmacologically characterizes bioactive natural products, mainly in the context of metabolic disorders, inflammation and vascular biology. We offer high scientific quality in our field, very well equipped laboratories with an up-to date scientific environment, a range of interesting projects and an excellent working and social atmosphere within the group and the department.
Duration of the contract: 4 years

Duration of employment: 4 year/s

Extent of Employment: 30.0 hours/week
Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: §48 VwGr. B1 Grundstufe (praedoc) with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a particular salary grade.

Job Description:
The successful candidate holds a relevant degree in Molecular/Cellular Biology, Pharmacy, Biochemistry or a similar field. Interest or previous experience in standard cell-and molecular biological work is desired. Interest in the field of metabolic disorders, inflammation and vascular biology, or in drug discovery and pharmacological characterization of biologically active natural products and/or their molecular targets might offer an advantage. Very good English communication skills are expected. We expect high motivation, commitment and the ability to work reliably under pressure.

Participation in research, teaching and administration: – Participation in research projects / research studies – Participation in publications / academic articles / presentations – We expect the successful candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 months. – Participation in teaching and independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement (good German language skills are required) – Supervision of students – Involvement in the organisation of meetings, conferences, symposiums – Involvement in the department administration as well as in teaching and research administration.

Profile:
Master or diploma degree in Molecular/Cellular Biology, Pharmacy, Biochemistry or a similar field. Professional competence, methodological competence, didactic competence. High ability to express yourself both orally and in writing – Excellent command of written and spoken English – IT user skills – Ability to work in a team.

Desirable qualifications are – Teaching experience (in German language) / experience of working with e-learning – Knowledge of university processes and structures – Experience abroad – Basic experience in research methods and academic writing.
